An official from the UN calls India's 'Namami Gange' expedition a 'beacon of hope'

The "Namami Gange" project to revitalise the nation's longest river is a "beacon of hope" and an inspirational narrative, a UN delegate underlined at the ongoing water conference here. India has lofty objectives for upgrading its water sector.

Currently taking place at UN Headquarters is the UN 2023 Water Conference, officially known as the 2023 Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Assessment of Implementation of the UN Decade for Action on Water and Sanitation (2018-2028).

The conference, which was co-hosted by Tajikistan and the Netherlands, took place from March 22–24. UNGA President Csaba Korosi will present a summary of the proceedings at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development session in 2023.
